Creative copy. Illuminating ideas.
Pottery Barn Kids has a very distinct voice, achieved over time using deliberate language and tone. As a freelance writer, my main goal was to maintain the strength and continuity of the PBK voice, while never losing sight of my own. The above links are just a few examples of product editorials that I wrote.
As a Saturn owner, runner, and writer, I was commissioned by Saturn to participate in and write about the Nike+ Human Race in 2008. They provided me with the Nike+ system and my article was featured on imsaturn.com.
I wrote these articles for the Stylehouse section of potterybarnkids.com. Both examples follow a "how to" format intended to give readers creative ideas for at home projects in an organized fashion.
This is an excerpt from an editing project I did a few years ago. My client, Mercer Consulting, was conducting a Case Study on traffic safety. My job was to edit their pre-published findings. In some cases, I cut down on filler words, making the message more concise and to the point. In other cases, I added more text in order to clarify or add emphasis. In either case, my goal was to enhance the text so that the reader could fully understand the findings of the study, giving it more depth and greater credibility.
This project was for an artist who needed help editing a pre-existing brochure. My goal with this project was to add clarity and potency to the main points of the text. My edits were concise and simple, yet they added an essential element of character and authority that made the message clearer and more compelling to the reader.
For this project, I collaborated with a marketing firm who had been hired to create a full scale marketing campaign for Hansen Financial Advisors. The firm, Red Zone Marketing, provided me with key insights on the direction of the campaign. I was responsible for creating the brochure. I worked directly with the client to determine a voice that would best reflect their brand, then develop a framework that would bring clarity and impact to their message. I wrote and edited the copy, and chose the photo images that you see in the finished brochure.
This page is an excerpt of a pro bono project I did for my children's elementary school in 2008. I worked with fellow PTA members to create, plan, and ultimately carry out the fundraiser with great success. In addition, my husband created the fundraiser's website, and I wrote all the original copy.
